LG India announces the regional rounds of K-POP contest in India

LG Electronics in association with Korean Cultural Centre, India announced the 8th edition of K-POP contest in India. Having successfully completed its first round of online submissions where the participants were asked to upload the video, the regional round will be held in Bangalore. Everyone can Sing and Dance with LG with XBOOM is campaign theme. The preliminary round witnessed massive response, 10,000+ people participated from across India. Post online round, 30 groups are shortlisted for regional round in Bangalore. In the regional round apart from contestant audience can enjoy Karaoke session. 2 category winners will be announced post regional round in dancing & vocal category.

This contest has two categories: Singing and Dancing, which is further divided into three subcategories – Online contest, Preliminary Round and the Grand Finale. This time, hip-hop lovers can also showcase their rap talent under the singing category. Last year, Juchy from Mizoram, won the first prize in vocal category & We are family crew from Delhi won the first prize in dancing category at the ‘K-POP Contest 2018 India’ grand finale, and were nominated to participate in the K-POP World Festival 2018 in South Korea.

K-POP is a musical genre characterized by a wide variety of audio-visual elements, described as a modern form of South Korean pop music covering mostly dance-pop, pop ballad, electronic, rock, hip-hop, R&B, etc. The craze and the jazz for this genre of music are extremely popular and global. K-Pop marked its presence in India four years ago through Psy’s Gangnam Style.

It’s time to say that K-pop finally arrived in India and we are elated to host the K-Pop Contest in India. Every year we have seen encouraging participation from people, and we are positive that this year too we will witness the strong and enthusiastic fandom of K-pop in India.
